AvoDerm Dog Food Review

What is AvoDerm Dog Food?

Who would think that choosing a Dog Food is such a big issue? It actually is. They say, “What you eat is what you are” and it applies for both humans and dogs. AvoDerm Dog Food is an excellent food brand unlike others because of its unusual ingredient: avocado! Why avocado? Apparently, avocado contains nutrients that can help cure skin and fur problems in dogs.

Now, we settled why it’s called AvoDerm. This Dog Food is manufactured by Breeder’s Choice AvoDerm Dog Food ReviewPet Food since 1982 and it is marketed as the premium Dog Food brand that helps dogs achieve shiny and healthy coats.

AvoDerm Dog Food as A Brand

AvoDerm Dog Food has an attractive colorful wrapping for each of its formula. It has a touch of green together with the resemblance of avocado on its logo. This is maybe the case to establish the brand’s uniqueness.

Also, it has a wide selection of Dog Food for different ages but not in so many flavors. This is not an issue with the consumers since many dogs like the taste of AvoDerm and its chewy size. The cost is also not a problem since it is priced competitively with other major Dog Food brands.

Avocado, as the main ingredient of this brand, is safe to consume even others may believe otherwise. Apparently, this is the result of one incident wherein goats consumed avocado leaves and became ill. Manufacturers get only the avocado oil and the fleshy fruit removing the seed and skin so any toxic substance is removed.

The result is a healthy food brand that helps alleviate skin allergies and promotes smooth, silky coats.

Other ingredients include chicken meal, lamb meal, salmon, rice, fruits, and vegetables. Chicken meal, lamb meal, and salmon are good sources of protein without worrying about cholesterol or fat. Chicken meal contains more protein than fresh chicken which is mostly water.

Salmon meal typically obtained from the “clean, dried, ground tissue of undecomposed whole fish and fish cuttings” of commercial fish operations. Additionally, chicken fat is also included.

It may not sound like it but chicken fat has omega-6 fatty acid which is essential for life. Rice, on the other hand, provides carbohydrates and energy but the products don’t indicate what type of rice is used. It is an issue to some owners because not all types of rice have much nutritional value.

If it is rice bran, then it would surely be fiber-rich and containing starch, protein, vitamins, and minerals. But if it’s brown rice, it has fewer nutrients.

Vegetable is a very general term and so is fruit but in AvoDerm Dog Food it may include tomato pomace, flaxseed, peas, carrots, potatoes, blueberries, and cranberries. Now, tomato pomace may not be a good idea because it is a by-product remaining after processing tomatoes into juice, soup and ketchup.

Some pet owners wouldn’t be happy if they know that their dog is eating something with a by-product. Still, some claims that tomato pomace has high fiber content while others insist it is just inexpensive filler. Anyway, there’s not much tomato pomace in this product to make much difference.

Also, other vegetable and fruit ingredients may not likely affect the overall product but they give additional nutrient such as vitamins.

The good thing is they do not cause allergies unlike corn. Instead, some ingredients are proven rich in fiber which is very important in good bowel movement. Flaxseed, for instance, has high fiber and omega-3 fatty acid. Plus, it contains protein so that increases the protein content of the product.
