Recipe#1: Cookies O’ Pumpkin Homemade Dog Food Recipe

Pumpkins contain a high amount of fiber that have been proven even on Humans to alleviate stomach upsets and a digestive aid so this recipe will aid your Dog’s tummy digest the allergens away. Makes about 30 huge biscuits.

 Ingredients:

  • extremely cold water – 1/3 cup
  • pumpkin puree (can be canned or home-made) – 2/3 cup
  • 2 cups Whole Grain Brown Rice Flour
  • 1 large eggs – you can omit this if your Dog is allergic to Eggs
  • 2 1/2 tablespoonful flax-seed oil. olive oil can also be used if preferred

Start by Preheating the oven to 320 – 350 Degrees. Use two baking sheets and baking paper to avoid sticking.

Mix lightly beaten eggs and Pumpkin in a separate container until smooth. If you don’t want to use eggs then just smoothen the pumpkin puree separately and proceed to the next step.

This time in a larger bowl, combine flax-seed oil and brown rice flour.With constant stirring, add the pumpkin mixture to the rice mixture and slowly add water. Be sure to leave some of the Rice to be used as some sort of toppings for the cookies. Hand mix the ingredients thoroughly.

Using two pieces of baking or waxed paper, roll out dough out to desired thickness. Get rid of the top part of  baking paper. Evenly pour rice flour unto the top of the dough and lightly press it by putting back the waxed baking paper. Remove the paper and cut to desired sizes.

You can use various shapes of cutter like bone shapes to make the cookies more appealing to your Dogs.

Place in the oven for 35 to 40 mins or until the top part is completely dry. Let it cool and store in a dry plastic or glass container ready to be served.

Recipe#2: Ground Turkey with Veggies Home Dog Food Recipe

Ingredients: 

  • ½ package of combined frozen broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 6 cups water
  • 2 cups brown rice
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary

Here’s how you can prepare it.

Get the water, turkey, and rice and place them in a Dutch oven. Stir the mixture until the ground turkey is completely broken up and is already fully incorporated into the entire mixture. Using high heat, bring this to a boil while stirring constantly.

Then, you can put in the mixed vegetables and the dried rosemary and continue cooking for about 5 minutes or until the vegetables are tender. Remove this from the heat and let it cool for several minutes.

When it has completely cooled, you can transfer the freshly cooked dog food into a plastic container and put it in the fridge. You can keep it refrigerated until you need to use it.

When you need to feed your dog, you can get a small portion of the mixture (depending on your dog’s appetite) and heat it a little bit just to awaken the flavours. Make sure it is not too hot for your pet to eat.

If you think your dog does not like the vegetables in this recipe, you can always make the necessary alterations and modifications. However, do be sure that your dog is not allergic to the ingredients that you are putting in. For example, if you think he does not like carrots, you can certainly replace this with pumpkin which is still healthy and safe for your pet. Moreover, you can also use cracked wheat instead of rice for your dog.
